The Spectro dealers that sell engine oil by the quart wanted me to buy an entire case. I wanted to try Spectro but had a hard time finding it here out west. I think as long as you use any premium grade gear oil (except the HD stuff), you will be satisfied. I also didn't care for the hard (pungent) odor that the redline emits from the vent when hot. Just like Glider used to say, it stayed in my funnel until I wiped it out. So, I agree with the comments that redline is sticky. It took me hours to get the Red line out of the trans and I opened the plug after a hard ride when the plug was way too hot to touch.
My dealer carries Amsoil Severe gear and I switched to that at the last oil change. Also, when it gets really hot and I'm in the twisties, it seems to thin out and I get a lot of clunking when shifting. I was using Redline heavy but like Smitty said, it seems a little too thick when cold.
